DOCU: INSECT  NILS VERKAEREN

In the summer of 2023, deep in the Atlas Mountains, we embarked on a journey to capture a world where nature and artistic creation merge. Far from the cities, in the heart of Morocco’s rugged landscapes, we found ourselves surrounded by silence, shifting light, and the raw beauty of the elements—an environment that became both a challenge and an inspiration. At the center of this documentary is Nils Verkaeren, an artist whose work is shaped by the landscapes he immerses himself in. Insect explores how the untamed nature of Morocco influences his creative process. The endless horizon, the sudden downpours, and the isolation of the mountains are not just settings but active forces in his art, guiding his hand and shaping his perspective.

Now, as we put the final touches on the documentary, we are deep into the last stages of editing, refining the rhythm and texture of the film. At the same time, we are finalizing the audio recordings for the music, ensuring that the soundtrack breathes life into the images—merging the sounds of the wind, distant thunder, and the quiet intensity of creation.

Insect is more than a documentary; it is an invitation to step into a world where nature and art become one. As we near completion, we look forward to sharing this journey through the rain, the mountains, and the mind of Nils Verkaeren.
